| Allen is home from his trip. Suse was so glad to see him at the
airport. He picked her up and she immediately put her head on his
shoulder and smiled huge. She strongly objected when he tried to
put her down so he could get the suitcase off the baggage
carousel. The big kids were very glad to see him too. He
brought each a bag of polished rocks that he 'found' on his trip up the
mountain. Actually found in a tourist trap on the search for pie
after the climb. He also got Cate a harmonica, and Xander an
official pony express badge. He is currently trying to figure out
how he is going to wear it to swimming lessons.

| Xander has been doing great with the swimming lessons. He is loving hte challenge of the class. We had a couple of issues iwth him listening the first class, but he is doing well now. One more week of classes for this summer.
Allen is in Colorado this week-end climbing a mountain. He got a deal on the plane ticket. It only cost us $40, and he is staying with a friend so we have no hotel expense. They are also talking about going mountain biking or kayaking. I have a feeling he is going to need a vacation to recover from this long week-end. He is not out of shape as he does work out every day. But, climbing a mountain is a lot different than a controlled work out in a gym in the midwest.
I am trying to decide what I am going to do with Cate, Xander, and Suse today. The idea of another long day of staying at home does not appeal to me. Especially since that is all that I have planned until Tuesday. It is times like this I wish my mother was still alive. I would call her up and we would take the kids to the park or the zoo together. | | |
| We
signed the older kids up for swimming lessons. They had their first
lesson yesterday. We judged where Cate should be dead on. She is
totally ready for the 7 year old class. Very comfortable in the
water. Just needs to know what to do safety wise, and learn some basic
strokes. However, we were really off for Xander. I put him in
the 4 year old class. That class is a lot of safety, and getting used
to the water. Well, according to his instructor Xander is part fish.
He is very used to the water, and felt he was ready for the 7 year old
class. So, today we are trying him in the 7 year old class. If it
doesn't go well I am not sure what we will do for him. He is beyond
the lower classes. The instructor only had worries about him
listening. Suse has started to walk. Each child is walking
a month younger than the previous one. She will take a few steps and
then stop to clap for herself. She is very proud. I think that she
will be the one that gives the most gray hair. She thinks she can do
anything the big kids do. Her current words she says constantly are
baby, and uh oh. | | |
